Review
I am deeply in love with the food at Osteria da Alberto. I ordered the pasta of the day, which was a spaghetti with local fresh caught mussels with chillis, cherry tomatoes and cucumbers. It was light and flavourful, not overly rich with a good hint of garlic which was balanced out by the cucumber which brings it freshness. They are also so very generous with their ingredients and the flavours are so wholesome and carries that beautiful umami balance. The pasta is also done truly al dante!
The only complain I have is that the dessert is not fresh, it tasted like it came out of a packet and overly sweet.
Osteria da Alberto is also quiet [Although, this might be because we had a very late lunch (13:30ish)] and is located off the the usual tourist trap areas.
When we walked in, the restaurant had a good handful of locals drinking their afternoon coffee and having a good laugh. (I always feel very relieved whenever I’m on holiday, in a restaurant, and I see a lot of locals. It is a sign that the food should be decent and that it’s authentic.)
The staff here are also very friendly and attentive, and they do a good recommendation for food and wine, so don’t hesitate to ask!
My tip for Venice when it comes to food is definitely to get seafood, don’t order the usual pizza and calzones it’s not going to be as good as the seafood dishes!
Worth Returning?
Definitely.
